Household's average total monthly income - 5,216 lei in 2020; expenses - 83.3%

- In 2020, the total monthly average income*) was, in nominal terms, 5216 lei per household and 2031 lei per person, increasing by 8.9%, respectively by 9.6% as compared to 2019.

- In 2020, the total monthly average expenditure**) of the population was 4372 lei per household (1702 lei per person), accounting for 83.8% of the total, decreasing by 1.6 percentage points compared to 2019.

 

The average total monthly income registered in a Romanian household amounted to 5,216 lei in 2020, of which 83.8% represented by expenses, according to data published on Monday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).

According to the quoted source, the cash incomes were, on average, of 4,840 lei / month / household (1,884 lei / person), increasing by 8.7% compared to 2019, and the incomes in kind of 376 lei / month / household (146 lei / person), more by 11.7%, from year to year.

Also, the salaries and the other incomes associated to them formed, last year, the most important source of incomes, respectively 68.2% of the total incomes of the households, decreasing compared to the previous year, by 0.4 percentage points.

As monthly averages, the total income of a household represented, in nominal terms, 5,216 lei / household, the equivalent of 2,031 lei / person, increasing by 8.9%, respectively by 9.6% compared to the previous year.

In this context, the total expenses of the population stood, on average, at 4,372 lei, per month, per household (1,702 lei / person) and represented 83.8% of total revenues, decreasing by 1.6 percentage points, compared to reference period.

At the same time, the incomes from social benefits (19%, in 2020, respectively 18.4%, in 2019), the incomes from independent non-agricultural activities (1.8%, in 2020, and 2%) also contributed to the formation of total household incomes , a year ago), agricultural incomes (1.7% vs 1.8%), as well as incomes in kind (7.2%, in 2020, respectively 7% in 2019), mainly the equivalent value consumption of agri-food products from own resources (6.1%, in 2020, and 5.8%, in 2019).

INS data show that the main destinations of household expenses are: consumption of food, non-food goods, services and transfers to public and private administration and social security budgets, in the form of taxes, contributions, contributions, and the coverage of related needs. household (animal and poultry feed, payment for labor for household production, sowing products, veterinary services, etc.).

At the same time, the expenses for investments destined for the purchase or construction of houses, the purchase of land and equipment necessary for the production of the household, the purchase of shares, etc. hold a small share in the total expenses of households, ie only 0.5% in 2020, compared to 0.6% in 2019.
