Government allocates 2mln lei for transforming hospitals into elderly homes
The Government has allocated 2 million lei (some 0.486 million euros, the editor's note) for financing the transformation of some hospitals in elderly homes, according to a decision published on last Tuesday in the Official Gazette.
According to the document adopted in the April 7 Government sitting, the money comes from the Government's reserve fund and is wired to the budget of the Labour, Family and Social Protection Ministry, which manages the 'Development of elderly homes network' programme.
At end-March, Health Minister Attila Cseke said that local authorities accepted that seven hospitals be transformed into elderly homes, after the Government decided that a total of 67 small hospitals no longer receive financing from the National Health Insurance House.Transforming hospitals into elderly homes is done with funds from the Labour Ministry.
