Study: More than half of the Romanians consider themselves helpless as regards climate changes

More and more Europeans, almost half of the population of ten European countries feel that they have very little protection or even no protection at all against the effects of climate changes, show a survey made by E.ON and Kantar EMNI according to which at the top of the most worried Europeans are the Romanians, 56% of the interviewees considering themselves helpless as regards climate changes.

‘We are second after the Italians who share this worry in a proportion of 58%’ shows the survey E.ON.

The authors of the survey speak about the urgent need for action on the part of the politicians who gather between 2 and 19 December for the UN Summit for climate in Madrid.

‘ Finally, only 22% of the Europeans consider they are well or very well protected following the actions for fighting the effects of climate changes’ the survey says.

Most protected feel to be the British. The UK is the only place where the proportion of those who are relatively worried (31%) surpass that of those who feel practically defenceless (28%).

The Germans are almost in the middle. In their case, 21% of the interviewees feel well or very well protected, while 40% think they are more or less protected against the climate challenges.

The results of the survey are part of the study ‘Living in Europe’ for which E.ON and KantarEMNID interviewed  approximately 10,000 people of the Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Romania, Sweden, Turkey and the UK.
