Visa Europe hopes to reach 1 mln cards using 3D Secure system in Romania

Visa Europe plans to reach one million cards that use the 3D Secure system in Romania, General Director of Visa Europe Catalin Cretu said.

He attended the launch of the national campaign aiming to promote the payments with the card on the Internet, initiated by Visa Europe alongside the member banks from Romania.

In his opinion, the goal is very ambitious, given that below 200,000 cards have activated the 3D Secure system in Romania over 2004-2011 out of about the 9 million cards pre-enrolled by banks.

The system Verified by Visa that ensures the protection of the transactions made with the card on the Internet is based on the system 3D Secure.

Catalin Cretu advised the owners of cards to enroll them in Verified by Visa payments, although the credit card fraud in Romania is nine times below the Visa Europe average.
