The Supreme Court decided to keep the  decision for the seizure of Liviu Dragnea’s goods in the Tel Drum file

The magistrates of the Supreme Court decide on Thursday to keep the seizure on the goods of the socil-democrat ( ruling party PSD) leader Liviu Dragnea in the Tel Drum file, where he was accused for the constitution of the criminal group,use or ill-willing  presence of documents or fake statements, imcompete and abuse of office with the results of getting goods or himself or somebody else. It is the second time when the PSD leader contests the measures,and the court rejects his request. In the case of the PSD leader, the National Anti-Corruption Directorate (DNA)  prosecutors decided for the seizure of the goods for the sum of over 127.5 million lei.

The decision taken on Wednesday by the supreme court which rejected the appeal formulated by Liviu Drgnea regarding the seizure of the goods is final.

In Novembeer 2017 Liviu Dragnea was accused in the Tel Drum file, for the constitution of a criminal group,the use or the ill-willing presence of documents or fake statements, incomplete and abuse in office with goods for himself or others.

According to the prosecutors Liviu Dragnea as chairman of the Teleorman County Council initiated a criminal group which acts at present and out of which employees of the institutions in the public administration and people in the business environment are part as well.

The group established in 2001 had as main purpose to get illegally important sums from  the contracts financed from public funds,by using crimes of abuse in office, embezzling of the European funds, fiscal evasions, money laundering and use of information which was not destined to the public or access for unauthorised people to such information, the DNA prosecutors say.

The damage in this file is 30 million lei through abuse in office and 20 million euor through European funds evasion.

Similarly, DNA announced that the PSD leader Liviu Dragnea had the goods seized until  the sum of over 127.5 million lei in the Tel Drum file.

Liviu Dragnea contested this measure last year as well but the appeal was rejected by the court.

On 17 January 2018 DNA announced that they decided to establish measures on all goods mobile and real estate of  the Tel Drum company as well as the seizure on the existing sums of money or the money to be collected from third party, in the banking accounts owned by the respective person until the sum of 32.118.589, 51 lei (representing the sum of the unlawful use and the sum which was taken from the payment of fiscal obligations to the state). At the same time, DNA announced the extension of the criminal investigation in the case of the  society, investigated for the constitution of a criminal organised group,fiscal evasion and abuse in office.
