Szijjártó: the trade between Romania and Hungary reached almost 8 million euros

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Hungary, Péter Szijjártó, said in central Targu Mures on Thursday that last year the trade between Romania and Hungary reached almost 8 million euros and that, after Germany, Romania as the second-largest export market for Hungary.

"The Government of Hungary is taking steps to make the relationship between Romania and Hungary be put at mutual respect. From this point of view, from the Romanian Government we have seen so far a very good openness. Last year, the trade between the two countries reached at almost 8 million euros. After Germany, Romania is the second-largest export market for Hungary," said the Hungarian foreign minister.

He added that the economic relations became so tight also on the basis of the cooperation agreements concluded with the Romanian authorities, referring in this respect to the economic development program for the agricultural entrepreneurs and the small Hungarian ethnic farmers in Transylvania, through which 501 contracts for projects funded by the Budapest government were signed.

Péter Szijjártó also said that there is an outlook for closer economic cooperation between Romania and Hungary also in the future, which will help increase the GDP and the budget revenues in both countries.
