Romania international reserves at over 37.2 bln euros at end-Dec.

Romania's international reserves totalled 37.25 billion euros on Dec. 31, 2011, up from 36.02 billion euros at end-Nov., the National Bank of Romania announced on Tuesday. The forex reserves amounted to 33.19 billion euros, up from 31.74 billion euros on Nov. 30.

Forex inflows stood at 1.99 billion euros from money into the European Commission account, money into the accounts of the Public Finance Ministry (including the third tranche under the agreement with the World Bank amounting to 400 million euros), the modification of the minimum forex reserves set up by the lending institutions, revenues from the international reserves management and others.

Contributing to the rise in the international reserves also was the appreciation of the U.S. dollar, Japanese yen and British pound to the euro in the global forex market.

Outflows totalled 545 million euros, representing the modification of the the minimum forex reserves set up by the lending institutions, payments of instalments and interests to the forex-terms public debt and others.

The gold reserve kept steady at 103.7 tonnes. Amid the developments in the global prices, its value stood at 4.058 billion euros.

The payments due in this January to the forex-terms public debt, direct and guaranteed by the Public Finance Ministry stand at 142 million euros.
