President of France arrived in Romania
The President of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron, started his official visit to Romania.
The aircraft bringing Emmanuel Macron to Romania landed on Tuesday evening at the "Mihail Kogalniceanu" International Airport in Constanta County, where the French President was greeted by the Prime Minister of Romania, Nicolae Ciuca.
Emmanuel Macron and Nicolae Ciuca then got into the cars, with the official motorcade going to Mihail Kogalniceanu Air Base 57, where the two officials met with the troops from allied countries, deployed at the base in Constanta County.
Foreign minister Bogdan Aurescu says that the visit made by French president Emmanuel Macron in Romania is “extremely important”, “confirming the support granted by France to NATO's discouragement and defense position in the Eastern flank.”
“An extremely important visit which confirms the support granted by France to NATO's discouragement and defense position in the Eastern flank, including the substantial contribution brought by France, upon Romania's request, through the actions made by president Iohannis, through the fighting group it leads as frame nation and in which 600 militaries participate. We have a very solid strategic partnership with France, also materialized through a very important commercial and investment relation, and inter human relation, through very solid historic, friendly connections,”said the foreign minister at Digi 24 on Monday, commenting on the French president's visit in Romania.
He pointed out that an accelerated process of setting up the fighting group in Romania was decided at the extraordinary NATO summit. The composition of the group will be completed by the end of the year, or the beginning of next year, or even sooner, the minister pointed out.
Bogdan Aurescu mentioned that over 5,000 allied militaries were in Romania, while the number of American soldiers, who are not part of the fighting group, was more than double compared to the former period of time.
