One quarter of Romania's exports of common metals goes to Turkey, in Q1
Approximately 24% of Romania's total exports of common metals and metallurgical products went to Turkey in Q1 of this year, with the total value of products sold having stood at some 424 million euros.
According to a release of the Turkish Businessmen's Association (TIAD), which quotes data from the National Statistics Institute, after the first four months of 2011, Romania registered a total value of exports of metallurgical products of 1.7 billion euros (7.56 billion lei).
The exports of common metals and items made of these rank third in the total share of the Romanian exports.
After metals, the Romanian-Turkish trade exchanges focused on electric equipment and vehicles, with the value of exports having exceeded 130 million euros. Moreover, Romania exported to Turkey mineral and vegetal products of over 150 million euros but also chemicals, plastics and textiles with a total value of over 100 million euros.
'Romania is one of the most attractive countries for investments in Europe and I am sure that in the next years it will record again accelerated growth. Among the most interesting fields for Turkish investors are infrastructure, agriculture, real estate, energy, industry sector and transport. Many important companies are already active in these sectors in Romania but I think that in the coming months also other important investors will come here,' said Omer Susli, TIAD president.
According to Agerpres, TIAD is a non-profit organization, set up in 1993 at the initiative of Turkish businessmen in Romania and currently it has some 146 members. These operate in the following sectors: electrical and electronic equipment, chemical products and plastics, transport, machinery construction, industry, commerce, finance-banking, food, ready-mades, tourism, construction.
