Nikon opens new store
The Japanese photo equipment producer present in the local market through importer Skin will open this year the second store in Romania, after the one inaugurated in August 2009 at Baneasa Shopping City Bucharest.In 2009 Nikon chose to open its second store in Europe in Bucharest. According to company representatives, the investment in Yellow Store amounted to several hundred of thousand euro.Although on the overall sales recorded at Baneasa Shopping City are low, the producer intends to open a new Yellow Store in another big town.
“The main purpose for which Yellow Store was set up is more of a matter of image than of big profit. Here, photography lovers can see and test the whole range of products and accessories,” Radu Niculescu, Nikon brand manager declared for Wall-street.ro. Since its official entrance in the Romanian market, Nikon has recorded an annual growth of 10% for all segments, compacts, DSLR and accessories.
The best sold products last year were most Coolpix models. D90, D3100 and D7000 are the best sold DSLR products.The price segment for best sold Nikon products differ according to the type of store where the purchase is made. A supermarket sells entry level compacts with prices between 300 and 500 lei. At the opposite pole we find specialized photo shops where DSLR cameras are sold at prices between 2000 and 20,000 lei.
Due to aggressive price policies, the photo camera markets has grown in number last year but in point of level it kept the same level of 2009. Nikon has a 30% share in the photo market in Romania, according to Radu Niculescu. The new Coolpix range which includes cameras P500, with 36X zoom and Full HD filming as well as S9100, S6100 and S4100 will be available at the end of February
