“Namaste India” Festival in Bucharest, over June 8-9, 2019

On June 8 and 9, 2019, the 11th edition f Namaste India Festival bring to Bucharest, aromas, colors and charm of an Indian summer. Organized under the high patronage of the Indian Embassy to Romania, by Rabindranath Tagore Cultural Center Association the event will take place at University House between 9 a.m and 8 p.m.

For two days, people are invited to discover important aspects in Gandhi's life and listen to travel stories, to read translations from Bengali to Romanian of Tagore's works, the first Nobel Prize winner from Asia, watch a sari parade, practice yoga and taste India's specific flavours.

On the other hand, this year's edition will focus on the close link between Indian and Romanian cultures, pointed out by the Indian influence on Mihai Eminescu, turned to account by Amita Bhose, an important Eminescu specialist, writer and translator from Bengali and Romanian languages.

By translating the play “A Lost Letter”into Bengali, Amita Bhose built a cultural bridge between the two countries. The audience will participate in the launch of the work at the festival and the launch of the translation of Tagore's work “Gitanjali”into Romanian by George Ulieru.

People will learn about cultural aspects concerning saris at a sari parade.

Visitors can buy clothes, accessories and souvenirs with Indian specific at the folk product sale, will enjoy henna paintings and a kirtan session.
