Moldova's PM Sandu welcomed by President Iohannis

Moldova's Prime Minister Maia Sandu was welcomed by President of Romania Klaus Iohannis at the Cotroceni Presidential Palace on Tuesday morning, according to the Presidential Administration. At the end of the meeting, the two will hold a joint news conference.

Maia Sandu came to the Cotroceni Palace with Moldovan Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Nastase.

While in Bucharest, Sandu is also scheduled meet Romania's Prime Minister Viorica Dancila and members of parliament, Moldovan Foreign Minister Nicolae Popescu said on Monday at a joint new press conference with his Romanian counterpart Teodor Melescanu.

"Prime Minister Maia Sandu is coming to Bucharest tomorrow morning. She will meet the President and the prime minister of Romania. Our interest as a country, Republic of Moldova, is to have a strategic relationship with all the state bodies (...) She will also go to the Parliament of Romania because we are interested in advancing co-operation projects at full speed," said Popescu.

President Klaus Iohannis will be on Tuesday morning in Bucharest to receive the premier of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu who will pay an official visit to Romania at his invitation. The president will go back to Brussels for the summit of the European Union.

According to the presidential agenda Klaus Iohannis will receive Maia Sandu on Tuesday morning, at 8:00 at the Cotroceni Palace.

The two officials will have discussions and will have  joint press statements. At 12:00 president Iohannis will be back in Brussels for the EU summit.

Negotiations with regard to the sharing of the key positions in the EU among the European leaders, reunited since Sunday in a summit in Brussels, were suspended until Tuesday at 11:00 (12:00 Romania  time) illustrating the difficulty in finding a compromise. After a white night, following which no concrete result was announced, a spokesperson of the chairman of the European Council Donald Tusk announced on Monday that the summit was suspended until Tuesday at the local time 11:00 (12:00 Romania time).
