Labour force cost went up by 14.1% last year

The hourly cost  with labour force went up last year by 14.1%, compared to the previous year, to 4,573 lei per employee, the highest increases being recorded in health and social care, according to data published by the National Statistics Institute (INS) on Thursday.

In 2017, the average monthly labor force cost was 4,008 lei/employee, on the rise by 14.1% against the previous year.

In 2018, compared to 2017, increases of the hourly cost of labor force were found in the health system and social care (+30.7%), education (+19.3%), agriculture, silviculture and fishing (+15.2%), public administration (+15.1%) and constructions (+14.2%).

Compared to the average per economy, the average monthly cost was significantly higher in information and communications (+88.6%), financial deals and insurance (+73.8%) and extractive industry (+65.3%).

The most important values of the average monthly cost below the average per economy were recorded in hotel and restaurant activities (-42%), other services (-34.2%) and constructions (-27.3%).

The gross monthly wages obtained in 2018 per economy was 4,357 lei (3,223 lei in 2017). The net average monthly salary at national economy level was 2,642 lei, on the rise by 13% (+304 lei) against the previous year.

The average number of employees in 2018 was 5,068 million persons, on the rise by 122,200 persons compared to the previous year.

There were 5,426 million persons employed on December 21, 2018, higher by 63,900 persons than the previous year.
