Italy, the honorary guest at the International Book and Education Fair Gaudeamus of Bucharest ( 23 – 27 November 2011)

This year Italy will be the guest of honour at the Fair to be inaugurated on 23 November at where Romanian political authorities will take part, as well as the Italy Ambassador Mario Cospito, Mr.Marco Simeon, the manager of the department for Institutional and International Relations of RAI and Mr. Marco Polillo, the chairman of the Italian Association of Editors.

The honorary chairman of the Far was named Eng. Luciano de Crescenzo, one of the Italian authors the most well-known and translated at international level,who will have a conference in the Italian stand on Saturday 26 November.

Italy’s programme as a guest at the fair includes several meetings, debates and conferences with a large number of writers, literary critics, journalists, historians, philosophers and managers of publishing houses and audio-visual mass media, invited by the embassy to enliven the five days of the fair, a press release sent by the Italian Ambassy to Bucharest says.

A special importance is linked to the presence of the wellknown historian Valerio Massimo Manfredi, oenologist Luca Maroni, Stenio Solinas, Andrea G. Pinketts, Giorgio Montefoschi, Stefano Zecchi and Francesco Guida, together with Luciano de Crescenzo .The active involvement of the Italian Association of Editors, of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Italian Institute for Culture allowed the participation to the Fair of over thirty Italian publishing houses, with a stand of display and sale of 100 square metres. It is the most ample and complete selection of editorial selection of Italy ever presented in Romania, with new things “ best sellers” classics, and economical editions.

Gaudeamus represents the only Book Fair organized by a public radio company, i.e. Radio Romania.
It is an annual cultural event and within 14,000 sq.m., it exhibits books printed by over 400 Romanian and foreign publishers, printing houses, educational, media institutions, cultural centers and institutions, book spreading agencies, cultural and educational NGOs, vocational associations., etc.

Like at its each edition, Gaudeamus International Book Fair has seven traditional sections, namely BookMultimedia, Education Stock Exchange, Children Book Show, National Inventions Salon, BookFilm, Exhibitions and the Danube. On this special occasion, visitors can meet with famous both Romanian and foreign book industry experts, authors, publishers, translators, designers, culture people.
The Fair finds a powerful echo with the media, each edition accrediting more than 100 journalists.
