iPhone 3GS in Romania on 31 July

iPhone 3GS will be launched in Romania on July 31st. The operator has already received 1000 pre-orders for this type of phone, according to Thierry Millet, the executive director of Orange Romania. No details were given about the price. Olaf Swantee, senior vice president of Orange Europe, Egypt and Personnel announced that the number of Orange Romania employees will grow in the following period to 3000, by setting up a department for IT platforms serving other branches of France Telecom.

“The Romanian market is very important for Orange. In the 11 years of activity in this market we have invested 1.6 billion euros in the network and services and in the next period we will increase the number of employees from 2700 to 3000. The new employees will administer IT services for France Telecom branches in other countries,” Olaf Swantee, senior vice-president of Orange Europe, Egypt & Personnel declared on Thursday, at the official presentation of the new CEO of Orange Romania, Thierry Millet.

Orange Romania officials explained that a new department will be set up within the company to handle technical operational platforms which host Internet access services, instant messages, mobile content and Internet applications used by several branches of France Telecom in the world.”
iPhone 3GS was launched on June 19 in several European countries and in the United States. In the American market the phone sells at 199 dollars in the 16 GB variant and 299 dollars for the 32 GB version together with AT&T subscriptions for two years.
