French premier welcomes Romania’s solidarity after ‘ the defaming attacks’ launched by Erdogan against Macron

The French premier Jean Castex welcomed on Monday the solidarity and support of Romania expressed by the prime-minister Ludovic Orban in a meeting in Paris after the ‘ defaming attacks’ of the Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan against the French president Emmanuel Macron, following the statements of the leader of Elysee about the caricatures with prophet Mahomet.

In a speech in a ceremony for the homage of the teacher killed, Macron spoke about ‘the Islam separatism’ and defended the freedom of speech which allows the presentation as caricature of the prophet Mahomet. His statements rose fury in the Muslim world. As a result, president Recep Tayyip Erdogan appealed to the boycott of the French products, after he doubted ‘ the mental health’ of his French counterpart.

‘It is extremely important that our European partners be on our side to defend common values, such as freedom of speech and conscience and the fight against appeal to hate and against terrorism. This horrible crime was committed exactly against these fundamental rights’ Castex said.
