Francophonie Night on March 20 at Romania's National Art Museum

The festival of the Francophonie will be marked in Bucharest by a Francophonie Night, which will be held on March 20, at Romania's National Art Museum, director general of the Directorate General for Public Diplomacy with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) Doris Mircea told a news conference on Thursday.

During this event, which is organized by MAE and the Ministry of Culture in partnership with the Embassies of Armenia, Canada, Egypt, France, Lebanon, Morocco, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Switzerland, Tunisia, Vietnam, the Wallonia-Brussels Delegation, the International Organization of the Francophonie for Countries of Central and Eastern Europe and the Bureau for Central and Eastern Europe of the Francophone University Agency, they will award three prizes to some personalities: one for the entire activity, for a mass media representative and the third one to a personality in business. The names of the prizewinners will be made known during the Francophonie Night, where the Violoncellissimo group will give a concert.

On March 21 they will hold the seminar titled 'French, the Language of Business, a Passport for the Future,' organized together with the Bureau of the Francophone University Agency and the French Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture in Romania and the members of the Group of Francophone Embassies, Delegations and Institutes.

In order to mark the Francophonie Day too, on March 29 they will organize a ceremony during which they will hand the certificates to the Romanian office workers participating in the plan of training in French in 2011, at the MAE headquarters.

In April MAE will take part in the meeting with the scholars included in the Eugene Ionesco scholarship programme, class 2012, at the Babes-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca (western Romania).
Romania's diplomatic missions will organize various events marking the International Francophonie Day: concerts, exhibitions, conferences, lectures, theatrical performances and film screenings.The missions will also attend joint events organized in cooperation with other Francophone embassies in the countries of residence.

Director general of the MAE Directorate General of Public Diplomacy Doris Mircea presented the agenda of the entire event in a press conference organized by the Group of Francophone Embassies, Delegations and Institutes in Romania on the launch of the festivities of the Francophonie Month 2012 in Romania.

The International Francophonie Day is celebrated on March 20 every year.
