FinMin Teodorovici reiterates   that the contribution to pillar 2 for pensions will not be suspended

The minister of finances, Eugen Teodorovici reiterated on Wednesday the fact that the contribution to pillar II for pensions will not be suspended but following the discussions with the factors involved, at the end of June – the beginning of July a new project in the domain will be presented.

In support for his statements,  Teodorovici spoke about the statements of prime-minister Viorica Dancila.

‘A left party will never put in balance the two: covering a possible deficit with the suspension, the cutting down, the reduction of the income of the population, either we are talking of pensions, or we are talking about salaries. (…). The prime-minister said very clearly that it is not about such a topic, so it should be closed’ the minister of finances said.

‘Mr. chairman (Dragnea) mentioned the fact that an analysis is under way at the level of the government between the ministers involved. The minister of work will be the one to lead the process. The finances will be present as well. ASF and other structures will be present as well. There will be  discussions with those who manage pillar II so that everybody, with all the data on the table have a logical approach and find the best solution’ he said.

Teodorovici assured everybody that there is money in the state budget for pensions and salaries until the end of the year, thus offering an answer to president Klaus Iohannis.

Eugen Teodorovici added that the ministry will place at the disposal of the president of the country any  information he needs as they did when Klaus Iohannis spoke about the budgetary exercise on Q1. On the other hand, he appreciated that the interpretation of the data ‘ was different from the real one’.

At the same time, Teodorovici denied the hypothesis of the reintroduction of the contribution for pensions to the employer
