Eurostat : Romania is placed on the first place in the EU depending on the decrease of activity in constructions in May

Romania is the member state of the EU with the highest drop in construction activity in May, of 23.7% as compared to the same period of last year, surpassing twice the EU average,showing a drop of 9.6% according to Eurostat.
Significant reductions of the constructions activity were recorded in May in Slovenia ( -21.2%), the United Kingdom ( - 17.9%), Spain ( - 16%) and Bulgaria ( - 13.9%).
Out of the 12 states for which Eurostat had the data, the indicator grew in Sweden ( 10.9%), Germany ( 1.2%) and Poland ( 0.1%). In the euro zone, the activity dropped by 8%.
At the EU level, the activity in the domain of buildings reduced by 11.5% and that in civil engineering by 1.7%.
In May by comparison to April, the indicator dropped in the case of Romania by 1.7% which offers our country the fifth position among community states with the highest reduction in constructions. The first ranked are Spain ( -4.3%), theCzech Republic ( - 4.1%) Bulgaria ( -38%) and Germany ( -32%). The only growth was recorded in Slovakia ( 5.4%) and Sweden ( 1.1%).
In the EU, the production in the sector of constructions dropped by 2.7% and in the euro zone by 2%.
