Eight out of ten Romanian employees wish to work in an office but in a healthy building

Eight out of ten Romanians (85%) would choose working from an office in a certified building,the results of a survey released on Thursday by a real estate developer for class A office segment show.Specialized research points out that 96% of Romanian employees consider that standards justifying the resilience level of a building in front of a pandemic are not only useful but also necessary in the present context.


On this background, certifying a building in front of risks brought about by the pandemic has become an important aspect for most Romanian employees, while 85% say it is important for them to work in a healthy building in the future.


Three quarters of respondents (76%) consider that a certified building can limit the risks for their health and that of their families and contribute to reducing the stress level they feel as a result of the pandemic.


At present, 70% of Romanians continue to be worried by the risks of virus and bacteria spreading by inefficient ventilation systems or improper hygiene of areas in their offices, the survey mentions.


Over 95%of employees consider that the existence of certifications is fundamental for office buildings, starting with those for emergency situations such as fires or earthquakes or for environment protection to those for health,” Genesis Property study shows.

As for the employees' perception on facilities which should be offered, 61% want areas of relaxation, socialization, and walking in the open, 53.2% want to be able to individually set temperature and light level at work, 51.5% want natural landscapes (including indoor green areas), while 45% want individual health protection equipment (masks, disinfectant,etc).


Genesis Property survey on the employees' perception on building health was carried out in June 2021 through iVox platform,on a sample of 1,208 Internet users throughout the country. About 50% of participants are women, about 70% are older above the age of 35, while 43% have incomes higher than 3,000 lei.
