The USR PLUS deputy Cristina Pruna stated on Friday that 918,270 Romanians required the statute of resident in the UK to stay in that country  after 30th June, the figure being ‘alarming’.’ It is the equivalent of over 16% of the total of the number of employees in the Romanian economy’ the deputy said. ‘The lack of  well-paid  workplaces is one of the main reasons constantly mentioned by those who choose to emigrate’ Cristina Pruna said on Friday.

The deputy states that, in Romania, 1.6 million employees are paid with the minimum salary  in economy, out of which the state takes almost half.

Pruna considers there are solutions: ‘A first step which could diminish the number of Romanians who go abroad to get a better paid workplace is the USR PLUS proposal, found in the governing programme of the coalition: zero taxes on the minimum salary, namely exemption of the equivalent of the minimum salary (the first 2,300 lei in the salary) in taxes’ the deputy said.

According to Cristina Pruna, this measure will stimulate the economy into drawing investments in Romania and it will encourage those who do not work and might think of emigrating to integrate on the work market.
