Romania participates with 40 companies, reunited under the national flag, in this year's edition of 'Alimentaria 2012' International Food and Beverage Fair, organized from March 26 to 29, 2012, in Barcelona (Spain).
The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Business Environment, in collaboration with the Romanian Center for Promotion of Commerce and Foreign Investments and in partnership with the Federation of Romanian Food Industry Employers - Romalimenta, organize this year Romania's national pavilion in Barcelona, which covers a surface of approximately 500 square meters.
CrisTim, Scandia, Agricola International, Vascar, Angst, Borsec, Europeandrinks, Murfatlar, Hofigal or Sonimpex are just some of the Romanian companies which will display their own labels of meat cuts, fresh or preserved culinary preparations, pastries, sweets, berries and natural preparations, honey, soft drinks, natural berries juices, naturally-carbonated mineral water, wines and barrels of wood essence specific to wine making, teas and natural supplements.
According to organizers, on Tuesday, in the second day of the event, Romania organizes a presentation in its own pavilion of the exhibiting companies, followed by a wine tasting session and Romanian traditional products.
The Romanian food industry has an important contribution to Romanian GDP, the turnover of this sector totalling, according to Romalimenta data, over 10 billion euros. Also, around 10,026 companies were active in the Romanian food industry in 2007, with a number of 206,712 employees.
For the first time since this fair-start, in 1986, Alimentaria extended to four full days of exhibition, instead of three, specific gastronomic events, conferences on retail and food services segments.
