Romanian Honorary Consulate opens in Bulgarian city of Vidin

Tens of people living in the Bulgarian city of Vidin gathered on Thursday to attend the opening ceremony of Romania's Honorary Consulate in this city. General secretary of Romania's Ministry of Foreign Affairs Robert Cazanciuc, representatives of the central Bulgarian authorities, the mayor of that city and other representatives of the local authorities, businessmen and representatives of the local mass media attended the event mentioned before. The mayor of the city of Calafat (southern Romania) and representatives of the Romanian authorities in the border area were also invited to take part. The mission of the Honorary Consulate is to help all the Romanian citizens visiting our region, Honorary Consul Kosta Grivov told Agerpres. 'The inauguration of the new Vidin-Calafat bridge, which will hopefully occur next year, will play an essential part in making this field more dynamic. We are going to encourage Romanian and Bulgarian businessmen to regard the Honorary Consulate as a contact and information point. The Consulate will also encourage cultural exchanges and communication between Romanian and Bulgarian artists and will be a promoter of Romania's image,' said Cazanciuc.
