First cybercrime combating forum organized by Romania

Romanian and foreign experts in the fields of information security and cybercrime combating meet in Bucharest on Tuesday and Wednesday, at the forum titled 'Challenges and Solutions for Security in Cyberspace,' the first forum of the kind organized by Romania.

According to some releases the Justice Ministry (MJ) and the Foreign Affairs Ministry (MAE) sent to Agerpres on Monday, it is a premiere as it is the first forum on the topic of cybercrime organized in Romania, at the initiative of MJ, in cooperation with MAE, the General Inspectorate of the Romanian Police, the SECI Centre and the Romanian-Swiss Multimedia Institute.

The purpose of the forum is to create a platform of cooperation and dialogue between public institutions and private companies, in order to facilitate the information and experience exchange, the cooperation, the professional training and to make the effort of the cybercrime combating more efficient.

The specialists come both from public institutions (policemen, judges, representatives of ministries and various organizations) and from private companies (the banking system, telecommunications, law firms, internet providers).

The organizers point out that the latest technologies, specialist evaluations, topical issues and solutions in the field will be presented and discussed in the six technical sessions of the programme.

From the international cooperation point of view, topics such as the approach and experience of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime and of the FBI will also be discussed.

'Romania's answer to the international developments will be discussed, from the legislation issues to the management of the current challenges. Regarding the on-line fraud, the presentations will focus on the flows of illicit money on the Internet, the latest methods of authentication, the organizational culture and its role in a company's security policy, Scams 2.0. A separate session is devoted to the fraud involving mobile telephony and phone transactions,' underlines MJ.

At the same time, the Romanian and foreign experts will also talk, during a working session, about the cooperation methods between public and private institutions and the regional cooperation through the SECI Centre for combating cybercrime.
