Unit 1 in Cernavoda, first position in the top of CANDU power stations – Platts Nucleonics magazine

Unit 1 of the Nuclear power station in Cernavoda was classified first in the annual top of CANDU power stations, made by the Platts Nucleonics journal, according to the activity of 2009. According to the data published by McGraw Hill Companies in the Platts Nucleonics journal, since February 2010,unit 1 – CNE Cernavoda occupied in 2009 the first position in the top of CANDU power stations in the world, with an average factor of capacity of 100.1 percent. At the same time, this capacity factor made in 2009 placed unit 1 of CNE Cernavoda 12th out of 436 operational. nuclear reactors2009 is the third year in a row when CNE Cernavoda occupies placements in the top of the list, with a capacity factor of over 90percent. The same publication places unit 1 on 34 place as regards the results of the last three years, with an average capacity factor of 93.65 percent.
In 2009, CNE Cernavoda delivered with the two operating units a quantity of 10.819 million MWh in the national energy system, ensuring approximately 18 percent of the national electricity consumption. The Nuclearelectrica society restarted unit 2 in Cernavoda and the connection to the national energy system was made on 4 March 2010.
