SIPRI Report : What weapons sold and bought Romania over the last four years

Romania is ranked 40th as regards arms exports, being surpassed by the Republic of Moldova ( 38) and Bulgaria ( 33) and 34th position as regards arms imports, according to the SIPRI report regarding the commerce with weapons between 2005 – 2009. In its annual report regarding the arms trade between 2005 – 2009 the International Institute for Research for Peace (SIPRI) headquarters in Stockholm underlines that, at global level, arms sales were superior to the 22% recorded in 2000 – 2004. Between 2005 -2009, Romania was placed 40th as regards arms exports being surpassed by Norway ( 39) the Republic of Moldova ( 38) and Bulgaria (33) and 34 as regards the arms imports, being ahead of Bulgaria which was 49. During this period, Romania delivered nine armoured transporters RN-94 to Bangladesh ( 2005), ten helicopters SA 330 Puma to the United Arab Emirates ( 2006 – 2007) in an agreement worth 125 million dollars, which also included the modernization of 15 helicopters belonging to UAE and ten training planes YAK – 52 to Viet-nam ( 2009).
