Senate passes support agreement for Nabucco pipeline Romania's Senate on Monday passed, 68 to 16 and one abstention, an agreement under which Romania pledges political and juridical support for the Nabucco gas pipeline.Under the agreement, the signatories are to be extended a judicial regime that will allow them the rights to own and operate their respective sections of the Nabucco pipeline. The signatories also pledge to deploy efforts to facilitate the lease, grant or acquisition of rights over the required plots of land and will extend a non-discriminatory regime to pipe owners and operators of the Nabucco natural gas system.

The agreement also provides for a fee system for transporters, the application of technical, safety and environmental standards and the establishment of a Nabucco Committee made up of one official from each signatory state to supervise the implementation of the agreement. The agreement cleared the Chamber of Deputies on February 16. The Senate is the decision-making chamber in this case.
