The Standing Bureau of the Senate to discuss on Tuesday of the Senate Speaker Mircea Geoana dismissal

The Senate standing bureau will discuss on Tuesday on the margin of the Senate Speaker Mircea Geoana dismissal. The procedure was initiated by 57 PD-L senators UDMR and independents. The document regarding the dismissal of the Senate Speaker was lodged last Thursday. It relies on art.85, 1 and 3 from the Senate regulations. As senator Iulian Urban said, irrespective of the vote in the Standing bureau, the request for dismissal has to be registered on the agenda for the first meeting, to take place on Wednesday 10th March. The democrat-liberal procedure is supported by the independent and UDMR senators who made official statements in this respect. On the other hand, the PSD position is that the position of Senate speaker was obtained “ through the vote of the electorate” and the process is unconstitutional. The senate speaker, Mircea Geoana will not vote in the meeting on Tuesday of the standing bureau, as regards his dismissal which would lead to equality of votes between the two parties.
