Romania, Republic of Moldova sign small border traffic agreement The small border traffic agreement between Romania and the Republic of Moldova was signed on Tuesday in Chinsau, after the delegations completed negotiations on the text. Romania's foreign affairs interim minister, Catalin Predoiu, hailed at the same time the fact that the authorities of the Republic of Moldova accepted to open Romanian consulates in Cahul and Balti. ‘The decision confirms Romania's and the Republic of Moldova's commitment to act firmly in order to take clear measures to the interest of the two states' nationals. The opening of the two consulates will streamline the implementation of the document which has been signed today,' said Predoiu. According to the document Moldovans will be able to drive free 50km in Romania without a visa. They will need a special permit to cross the border. Moldovan PM Vlad Filat declared for UNIMEDIA that they need to know whether the nominated PM Lucian Croitoru can sign the document.
