Romania lost 169 million euro from the EU funds between 2007  - 2009 Romania lost European funds worth 169 million euro from a total of three billion euro, between January 2007 – and July 2009, according to an official report of the European Commission, the Novinite.com site sends.
The report evaluating the absorption of community funds by Romania and Bulgaria between January 2007 and 31 July 2009 was sent by the European Commission to the EP Committee for the Control of Budgetary Funds, according to the Dnevnik daily.
The CE report is purely technical and does not contain political conclusions. The document refers to the absorption of funds through pre-accession programmes, agriculture programmes, cohesion funds and structural funds.
The EC report shows that Romania is a much better position than Bulgaria as regards the absorption of community funds.
Romania lost 169 million euro out of 3 billion euro between 2007 – 2009. Moreover, Romania had already had access to structural funds. The EC report is to be discussed by the EP committee for Budgetary funds control on 3 November.
In the case of Bulgaria, the report shows that the main issues which stop the community funds from flowing is interest conflict, the insufficient financial supervision, the insufficient adminstrative capacity and the legislative flaws. Out of 1.36 billion euros destined to Bulgaria, Sofia received only 488 million.
